Sorry, Tito. This was an accident! I recently installed Writ Keeper's Talkback script, and I clicked on the "TB" by your name on the Q&A board by mistake. Cheers, - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 14:55, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

RE: interesting read

Yes, I faintly remember to have read something on this back when it happened... It probably came out in signpost. --Dwaipayan (talk) 14:52, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Follow up on Swami Vivekananda

Can you try to expand the teachings section? Seems you have some books on him, right? Now, since I do not have much idea about his teachings and philosophy, I may erroneously conclude that the section is insufficient. So, it would be great if someone who knows about his teachings and philosophy had a look on this. Can you get someone to look at it? It may even be someone off-wiki (someone you know personally who can have a look, and provide feedback).

As you can see, the book references are all formatted now consistently (unless I have missed something). Will work on web references later. --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:12, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Actually I wish to create an article on it: Teaching of Vivekananda. what do you think?
And, so you live in Washingotn? I was invited in 2011 GTCS, but, I could not attend due unfortunately! --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:24, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
No, I am not in Washington, but about 5–6 hrs drive away, in Hartford, Connecticut. I did not know about this GTCS, fo rme GTCS is generalized Tonic–clonic seizure !!
Yes, I think you should create an article on Vivekananda's teaching and philosophy. That would be really helpful. A gist of that can be in Vivekananda article. Creating appropriate daughter articles are always extremely helpful.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:35, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
yes, I'll do it! What do you think should be the title of the article Teachings of Swami Vivekananda? --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
I think, "Philosophy and teaching of Swami Vivekananda" will be more apt. And redirects as needed.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:01, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
There is not a single article in Wikipedia which starts with "Philosophy and Teachings...". There are multiple articles which starts with "Teachings of... ".. What do you think?--Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 16:18, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok, go ahead with "Teachings of..." --Dwaipayan (talk) 16:21, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Ok, will have a deeper look later. But one quick glance told me that you are right on the track!--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:56, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Creating a new section. We should not place Swami Vivekananda and Internet pornography statistics in same section.
I have started this article Internet pornography statistics. Can you help to create/expand users by age and "Keywords" --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, :) mission people may get offended.
I did not understand your request "Can you help to create/expand users by age and "Keywords"". What do you mean?--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:03, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
I have only worked on the basic stats! And have tried to add recent stats only (2011-12). In the article. Can you create a section on "Users by age" and/or "Users by country", as it is given in this article. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 16:17, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Ideas of new projects

I have no ideas when asked about more technical question! Sorry, don't know.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:45, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Re:WikiBirthday!

In that case let me be the first to wish you a Happy WikiBirthday - albeit a little in advance. I can't believe I've been doing this for almost four years. :) Paul MacDermott (talk) 17:20, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I did a few minor edits in late 2006, but didn't really do much till I started an account. Paul MacDermott (talk) 17:40, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello, Titodutta. You have new messages at Extra999's talk page.

chronology table

Hi! Yes, go ahead and add the chronology table. I am not aware of the policy with collapsed tabls, those may not be acceptable under WP:MoS for WP:FA. No problem adding it for now. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:27, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

It looks fine the way you have added it under "Chronology".--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:58, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

SV Influence

You may not need influence of Vivekananda as a separate article. The section needs expansion. It will be better if we can get rid of some quotes and add meaty material in stead. I found this page lists influence of Vivekananda in a listy way. We can use this page as a base, and then substantiate each of those points with good book references. I did one point just now (unity of different Hindu sects). Please have a look. That webpage has really good coverage of his influence on Hinduism and world. However, that webpage is not a very reliable source for giving in an article which aspires to become an FA. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:34, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I have done some homework and made a list of tribute type comments, I have citations etc for every quotes and tributes. See the list below:
Name Identity I have infomration
Leo Tolostoy Russian writer 2 pages
Bal Gangadhar Tilak Freedom fighter, scholar 1 page
Bipin Chandra Pal Freedom fighter, scholar 5 pages
Mahatma Gandhi I don't know. :) 1 page
Jawaharlal Nehru You know it. :) 3 pages
Subhash Chandra Bose You know it 4 pages
Vinoba Bhabhe Scholar 1 page
Romain Rolland Scholar 6 pages
Will Durant American historian, scholar Half page
C. Rajagopalachari First Governor of Independent India Half page
S. Radhakrishnan Second president 1 page
R.C.Majumdar Historian, academic 3 pages
Suniti Kumar Chatterji Historian 3 pages
A.L.Basham Famous Indologist 1 page
E.P.Chelishev Indologist of Soviet Russia 2 pages
Huan Xin Chuan Professor of history Beijing University 2 pages
Note, I have collected quotes of renowned people only. So, in comparison to what document we have in our hand, we have written almost nothing in the article. What do you feel? --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 18:54, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
With so much information, I think you should go ahead and write a separate article on Influence of Swami Vivekananda. This will be the first task. The, from their, very selected quotes (preferable historians, Indologists etc) should be incorporated in the main article. Again, its not the quotes that would make the section good. We need explanatory text. And the above mentioned site has good things to begin with.--Dwaipayan (talk) 01:15, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Culture of Bengal

It looks fine. Please go ahead and complete it. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 11:59, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Everything seems to be in order. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 02:50, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, go ahead and replace the old template with the one in your sandbox. Only category can remain. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 03:05, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
I have replaced the template with the one from your sandboxx. Good work. If you want to make any more changes, you can do so in the template file now. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 01:57, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
I think that the present template (Culture of Bengal) as it stands is okay. There is need for a template on Sports in West Bengal. You can try and develop one. You can also try a collapsed template. Here is an example:Template:Tibetan Buddhism sidebar. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 00:42, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Don't you guys think the green color of the template is too loud? In Bengali, katkate? It creates problem in reading th etext of an article to which the template is attached.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:48, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Ha ha ha, I thought the word katkate was a term local to Bangladesh only ... now I see it's a part of Standard Bangla :) --Ragib (talk) 06:27, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Now, it is Tito Dutta's template. You can go ahead and do as you think best. My opinion is that green is the overwhelming colour of the Bengal countryside, Lalmati occupies only a fringe area. However, if you so feel, you can tone down the green. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 01:23, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, for delay in reply, actually I have been suffering from fever, and have come online after 2-3 days. Dwaipayan, which OS you are using? In Ubuntu 11.10 I am not feeling the template Katkate! It's a different thing that in Ubuntu (Linux) you'll find everything fine! :-D I have prepared a second copy of template which is in my sandbox, which you can see here User:Titodutta/sandbox#Template_COB_2. Ragib, yes, Katkate is a common word in Calcuttian Bengali (Sutanuti Bangla) too. Most probably it is "Dhonwatwok obyoy" Is not it? --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 10:12, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Well, in Windows 7, using firefox and chrome, the color seems katkate. Indeed the red color used in the alternative is also distracting. I would think toned down green or a nice cool blue would be better. Something that does not detract you from reading the text in the article, and does not hurt the eyes.
Hearing the term dhonwatwok obyoy after more than 12 years. I used to get nightmares of Bangla byakoron many years after school.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:08, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I do not want to use green since it is a color of a prominent political party, I have removed red too! Using blue is not a good idea (anywhere), IMO, since most browsers use blue/purple (by default) for link colors. I have once again made changes in Template CoB which can be found here: User:Titodutta/sandbox#Template_CoB_2.1, feel free to make changes in v 2.1. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:18, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive
GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Your drive coordinators – Dianna (Talk), Stfg (Talk), and Dank (talk)
